My name is Mitra Vasisht and I am the author of “From the Moon with Love: A Trilogy.”
Here are ten facts about me to help you get to know me better!
I am a retired international diplomat including serving as an ambassador of India to many countries, including Cuba.
I have also served in the United Nations and still function as an Advisor (civilian capabilities.)
At one time, I was very fluent in German, French, and Spanish, but due to lack of use, that has now affected my fluency.
I have always had a fascination with the moon since childhood.
My husband Anil Vasisht was the most understanding and kind partner and all our accomplishments were a joint effort. He was a Gurkhas officer of the Indian Army who later joined the UN Peacekeeping. We relocated to the US to enjoy our retirement and to be close to the families of our son and daughter. Anil succumbed to cancer two years ago. My writing is also a joint effort –he is in physical absentia but is always with us, his family.
I believe very firmly that the world’s children are our treasure and deserve the utmost and all round nurture at all times in all parts of the world.
I owe all my success in family life as well as my career to my deeply caring and loving parents and the emphasis they placed on education.
I was born, studied and lived in India before starting my diplomatic career and thereafter lived in many countries.
I have great practice in not being drawn into controversies!
I have spent my life traveling to various corners of the world.
